DESCRIPTION: SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING DRAWINGS, WILL BE AVAILABLE ON CD ONLY. The work will consist of the replacement of the 2 ????-inch diameter wire ropes, pillow block bearings and shaft seals for the navigation lock gate lift mec hanisms at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam. The lift mechanisms are housed in the machinery room of the north and south towers at the downstream end of the navigation lock. There are 12 wire ropes, 2 shaft seals, and two sets of bearings per tower. In the south tower, replacement of the bearings and seal on the upstream assembly and replacement of the bearings only on the downstream assembly will be required. In the north tower, replacement of the bearings and seals both on the upstream and downstream ass emblies will be required. 12 bridge socket u-bolts and 24 bridge socket eyebolts will be required for wire attachments to the counterweight or gate. Load cell assemblies will be required for each socket type: 2 per u-bolt and one per eyebolt. The contra ctor will be required to furnish one wire rope with the eyebolt attachments. The Government will furnish all other wire ropes, U-bolts, eyebolts, and load cells. An instrumentation contractor will be hired by the Government to take readings from the load cells to assist with balancing the rope tension. All work must be performed during the annual navigation lock outage, which begins at 0600 on 6 March 2004 and ends at 2359 on 20 March 2004. ADMIN INFO: The estimated cost range for this job is between $250,000 and $500,000. The standard industrial classification code (SIC) is 1629 and the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237990. The small business size standard is average annual receipts for the previous three fiscal years must not exceed $28,500,000.00. All responsible business sources may submit an offer, which may be considered. Solicitation will be issued on or about November 7th. Bid opening will be no sooner than 30 days after solicitation is issued. Site visit information will be contained in the solicitation.
