- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City intends to solicit competetive proposals for a Forward Looking Sonar systems that will be used for the high-resolution imaging of objects and features appearing in the forward quadrant of the system. The requirement covers the following deliverable items: two undersea sound heads designed to mount into the system nose section; two vehicle-recording systems and power supplies; two Topside Display and Control Computers with Data Recording; AUV/ROV (subsea) and Platform (topside) Telemetry Interface; Topside (Host Platform) Display and Control computer software; and one set of documentation. The FLS shall meet or exceed the following specifications: shall have a center frequency between 100 KHz ? 200 KHz; shall be able to detect a ?5 db to ?10 db target at a minimum range of 300 meters; shall have a minimum of 90 degrees horizontal covera ge; shall have a horizontal beamwidth of 2.0 degrees or less; shall have two effective vertical beamwidths; (1) 3 degrees or less, and (2) between 6 and 12 degrees; shall have a range resolution of 7.5 cm or better; shall give full horizontal sector coverage at a minimum of 2.5 times per second at the specified range of 300 meters; shall have all minor lobes no more than ?20 db of the main response axis of the beam being measured for both horizontal and vertical beams; shall have sufficient projector sound pressure level to be reverberation limited at the specified maximum range; shall operate at a forward speed of up to 10 knots with no degradation in performance; shall apply Time varying gain (TVG) to its data to account for spherical spreading and attenuation, with the ability to change this TVG while the sonar is operating, shall physically fit into and mechanically mount i nto the existing system nose section.
