Description

DRY CLEANING AND LAUNDRY SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF THE CADETS ATTENDING THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY (USAFA). This is a pre-solicitation notice. This pre-solicitation notice includes a request for industry comments on the Draft Statement of Work dated 09 October 2003. The contractor will be required to furnish all labor, supplies, dry cleaning and laundry to the cadet area at the USAFA, CO. Daily pickup and deliver of large volumes of dry cleaning and laundry is required. The contractor is responsible for picking up soiled clothing from seven or eight squadrons or 240-280 cadets daily, and returning clean clothing for seven or eight squadrons daily. The estimated quantities for this service are described as follows: For the months of September through February, the approximate number of cadets using ISS service is estimated to be 1100- 1250 each. For the months of March through August, the number of cadets who use the service is estimated to be 1100 each. Each cadet will be scheduled for four (4) submissions of each laundry and dry cleaning per month. A "bundle" of laundry or dry cleaning is the cadet's total monthly submission of either laundry or dry cleaning. Cadets have historically averaged eight items of clothing, 2.4lbs, per bundle and 48lbs of laundry per bundle. USAFA has 36 squadrons. The NAICS code is 812320 with a business size standard of $4,000,000. The awarded contract will be for a Basic one-year period and four one-year option periods. The procurement is UNRESTRICTED; however, offers from SB, SDB and 8(a) firms are encouraged to submit offers. The Request for Proposal (RFP) for this commercial procurement will be issued on or about 20 NOV 2003, with a closing date on or about 21 DEC 2003.
