Description
DESCRIPTION: NOTICE: THIS PROCUREMENT IS FOR FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION. Project Name: Archeological pedestrian survey of prescribed burn units. The National Park Service is proposing to have an archeological reconnaissance pre-burn survey of eight burn units at Buffalo National River conducted in FY2004 (December 8, 2003 to August 30, 2004). This work is designed to result in the scientific survey to identify above-ground archeological sites (historic and prehistoric) within the burn units in order to protect these sites from the effects of controlled burns. The archeological fieldwork proposed for this project is expected to accomplish the following 1) to identify above ground historic buildings and structures such as fences, wells, house foundations, etc, 2) to identify above-ground prehistoric sites such as lithic scatters, etc, and 3) to identify any sites that have the potential to be effected by fire such as mines, bluff shelters, pioneer homes and fields, etc. The contractor shall deliver two copies of each draft Management summary upon the completion of each burn unit and two final copies of a draft final report for review to the National Park Service within the time frames specified in Section C.8. Following review of these documents, the contractor will submit five copies of a final report of publishable quality as a final product. Artifacts will not be collected unless they are diagnostic and subject to loss. The National Park Service, is soliciting competitive bids for a firm, fixed-price contract to furnish all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to perform all operations required for the successful completion of the above named project. Contract duration is 9 months following notice to proceed. In accordance with FAR Subpart 36.204, the price range for this contract is between $25,000 and $100,000. The Solicitation and attachments will be posted on electronic commerce on or about October 31, 2003 at the following web site: http://ideasec.nbc.gov.
