- Notice of availability of a prospectus on November 5, 2003, for solicitation of proposals to operate commercial visitor services within Watch Hill, Sailors Haven and Barrett Beach/Talisman areas of Fire Island National Seashore. The required visitor services include: food and beverage services, marina services, campground operation, overnight accommodations, and associated retail sales. The concessioner provides all personnel, equipment and supplies used in the operation. The required operating season is mid-May through mid-October. The term of the contract will be ten years. A concession facilities improvement program is required in the amount of $3,016,000. The minimum franchise fee to be paid to the National Park Service (NPS) is 1.5 percent of the concessioner's annual gross receipts. The prospectus will explain the business opportunity, the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract, the proposal instructions and proposal package (including the selection factors). The solicitation, selection and award of the concession contract will be conducted pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51. A pre-proposal site visit is scheduled for December 8, 2003. An electronic copy of the prospectus will be available on the internet at www.nps.gov/fiis. The cost of purchasing a hard copy of the prospectus is $50.00. To obtain a copy, send a check payable to "National Park Service" to the following address: National Park Service, Fire Island National Seashore, 120 Laurel Street, Patchogue, NY 11772 ATTN: Jean Blakeslee. A Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number must be on the check. No telephone requests for the prospectus will be honored.
