- Request for Information Multibeam Sonar System (MBSS) The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston (SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to solicit responses from commercial vendors on an anticipated Multibeam Sonar System (MBSS). The Navy seeks information about existing/future technologies for the next three (3) years for a full suite of sonar equipment to include: full ocean depth multibeam, integrated single beam, integrated full ocean depth narrow-beam subbottom profiler, shallow water parametric subbottom profiler and Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). Minimum requirements to include: Multibeam: 1 X 1 Degree 150 degree swath motion stabilization bottom type classification Single beam: provide shallow, medium and deep operating modes Subbottom: motion corrected 3 X 3 degree ADCP: shallow and deep capabilities (dual frequency)capable of providing sound velocity. Include potential for dedicated wetside install with modular/removable dryside components. Suite of sonars is to be installed in a below-hull appendage providing a flat surface for all transducers. All systems to be integrated with existing ship systems that provide navigation and motion data to the sonars. The sonars may be required to provide data in a specific format to be logged/displayed by existing integrated survey software. There is no bid package or solicitation document associated with this announcement. The requested information is for planning purposes and does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that a contract will follow. There is no intent to reimburse providers for the cost of submitting information in response to this RFI.
