Description
INTRODUCTION: The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Space Vehicles Directorate (VS) Space Based Infrared Technology Branch (AFRL/VSSS) at Kirtland AFB NM is interested in receiving proposals from all offerors to advance the state-of-the-art and scientific knowledge in focal plane array (FPA) technology. The total program budget for this effort is approximately $9.9M over three years. The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in support of the Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) sponsors the work. The objective of this effort is to determine focal plane array (FPA) performance based on current STSS goals, develop cryogenic readouts that are radiation hardened by design and/or processing, and insert the resulting technology into the STSS Cycle 2 system, which consists of actual satellite and/or ground demonstrations.
