Description

Principal features of the work include: Designing and constructing temporary systems for personnel access and materials delivery from the Contractor Use Area at stream channel elevation to the worksite at the river outlet works (ROW) downstream tunnel portal. -Designing, furnishing, and installing a drip shield system over equipment in the ROW tunnel. -Backfilling an existing hole in the ROW tunnel floor with concrete. -Cast-in-place concrete saddle-type pipe supports and anchor block. -Designing, furnishing, and installing door hinge support system for the existing wood security door at the tunnel entrance. -Preparing, cleaning, and painting existing steel piping, valves, and equipment. -Removing and disposing of existing 20-inch and 24-inch steel piping and 20-inch knife gate. -Furnishing and installing 24-inch steel pipe. -Furnishing and installing hydraulic, cylinder-operated, 24-inch butterfly valve. -Furnishing and installing hydraulic, cylinder-operated, 24-inch knife gate valve and linear feedback potentiometer position sensor. -Removing existing hydraulic cylinder from existing 24-inch emergency gate and furnishing and installing new hydraulic cylinder. -Furnishing and installing new limit switches and wiring for existing emergency gate. -Removing and disposing of existing hydraulic lines, fittings, and supports and furnishing and installing new hydraulic lines, fittings, valves, and brackets. -Draining and disposing of hydraulic fluid from gate operating system and refilling with new fluid. -Reshaping and reconfiguring stream channels at three stream crossings. -ROW tunnel and pipe are considered to be confined spaces. -Comply with applicable safety regulations for working in a confined space.
