Description
This amendment is issued to answer questions concerning this request for quotation. 1. Note 22 is hereby deleted from the synopsis. 2. The following questions have been asked and questions provided. Question 1. Induction heating power supply output power. As the 105mm projectile is larger than in past operations, your experience will help confirm that the previously used 20kw induction unit has enough capacity to provide the needed heating for the 105mm. Answer. The 81mm mortar weighed 2.27 lbs. This was heated to 300 deg F in 109 seconds using 45% power setting, which equaled 9kW. The 105mm projectile will be weighed after the abrasive waterjet cutting operation to determine weight. It is estimated that the steel casing will weigh approximately 20 lbs. (16 lbs. of steel, 4 pounds of TNT) after cutting. Question 2. Workload. Can Crane quickly provide a drawing of the 105mm projectile? This will aid in costing and quoting the induction coil fro the project. Answer. Yes. The drawing has already been provided to contractors that have expressed an interest in this project. Question 3. Remote operator control panel. The last project used a remote operator panel for the induction equipment. Assuming this is again needed, will Crane require the sixty feet of wiring from the induction power supply to the remote panel? Answer. Yes. Question 4. Power Transmission. The last project utilized a bus bar to transfer induction power from the power source to the induction coil located within the bunker. Is this busbar available for use on this project? If not, we will quote a new bus bar for the 105mm project. The busbar is available for use, but will only be useful to Pillar Corporation. If a different comp any is awarded the purchase order, they must provide their own busbar. Question 5. As stated in the SOW 3.3.1.1 the drawing is to be included but was not. Please provide the drawing. Answer. See answer to #2 above. Question 6. What is the desired temperature ramp rate? Answer. 22 deg F per second Question 7. What are the ?duplication of cost that would not likely be recovered by competition?? Answer. After a further review of this requirement, it is decided that the initial sole source determination is cancelled. This acquisition is now available to all responsible, small businesses. Question 8. In response to this solicitation, does every company have to perform section 3.3 of the SOW? Answer. Yes 3. All other terms and conditions remain the same.
