- This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). Statement of Work: The contractor shall , reclaim and replace gold on an existing hollow copper cylinder, nominally 24" inside diameter by 7" high. Gold shall be at least of purity 99.99% and 0.025" +/- 0.002" thick, bonded to the inside diameter surface of the copper substrate, covering the entire inside diameter area. Application of the gold foil shall conform to the instructions on GSFC drawing number GD1490496 revision D. The drawing is available in paper form or in PDF file format. Reclaim gold from additional scrap materials including chamber scrapings and Scotch tape bearing gold. Credit the cash value of all reclaimed gold to this order. Deliverables: 1. Fabrication charges to remove and replace the gold on the copper shell. 2. Gold material for new target coating. 3. Shipping charges. Delivery schedule: Vendor shall deliver the refurbished target to GSFC within 30 days of receipt of the spent target shell. Award will be based upon overall best value to the Government, with consideration given to the factors of proposed technical merits, price; other critical requirements (i.e., delivery) if so stated in RFQ will also be considered. Unless otherwise stated in solicitation, for selection purposes, technical, price, are essentially equal in importance. It is critical that offerors provide adequate detail to allow evaluation of their offer (see FAR 52.212-1(b). Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than 12/01/2003. (Prospective quoters shall notify this office of their intent to submit a quotation). It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
