Description
Provide professional engineering services to prepare the design development program, preliminary drawings, working drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction period services to facilitate award of a construction contract to renovate and relocate the existing 40 bed 1970's designed Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU) located on the Sixth Floor of the main Building 1 to the First Floor West Wing with a build out at VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Michigan. The project will consist of complete demolition of the interior walls, ceilings, fixtures, flooring, plumbing, electrical and ventilating equipment. It will involve new construction and remodeling of existing areas for new patient rooms with medical gases, ADA toilets, replacement of windows, offices, nurse stations and other support areas, including interior walls, ceilings, flooring, built-in case work, window treatments, finishes, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems on the First Floor West Wing with a build out over Engineering area and new construction area to meet VA and Industry Guidelines for Nursing Home Care for a 48 bed unit. The project will modernize and provide necessary critical power and support systems to meet current codes and standards. Demolition of existing architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing items are included in the project along with remodeling and relocation of existing ones. Estimated construction cost is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to 250 driving miles from the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Michigan. Selection criteria will be based on: (1) Past performance on similar projects, maintaining project schedules and project budgets; (2) Overall engineering design experience and capability with architectural, mechanical, and electrical renovation projects; (3) Qualifications of staff to be assigned, with special emphasis on field personnel to be utilized; (4) Knowledge in design and construction requirements; (5) Cost control effectiveness; (6) Location of office supporting project. NAICS code is 541310. A/E firms, which meet the requirements listed in this announcement, are invited to submit two copies of Standard Form (SF) 254 and Standard Form (SF) 255 by December 8, 2003.
