Description
The purpose of this amendment is to respond to vendor questions received to date and make notification that we anticipate hosting a site visit in the near future to address any outstanding questions as well as any other written questions received in the future. The date and time for the site visit will be posted within the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in attending a site visit, please submit your company name and the number of proposed attendees to Brenda.Geist@dla.mil no later than 21 November 2003. The following questions have been received to date. QUESTION: I am a little unclear as to how DLA is proposing this operation will work. Am I correct in saying that once a customer makes an order(s) at the end of the day, all orders will be sent to a central location where it will be consolidated, packed and then shipped to the customer? ANSWER: It will be the customer?s choice to use this service. Yes, the goods will be sent to one location, consolidated, and then forwarded to the customer. QUESTION: Will you consider this as a set aside? ANSWER: Not at this time. QUESTION: What does OCONUS & CONUS stand for? ANSWER: OCONUS means Outside the Continental United States and CONUS means Continental United States. QUESTION: Can you elaborate on the statement that the customer would receive items purchased in a shopping cart in a single shipment? What exactly does that mean? ANSWER: All orders will be sent to a central location where it will be consolidated, packed and then shipped to the customer. QUESTION: What destinations would we be sending the shipments to? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: On the second sheet..."If you or your organization is involved in the area of distribution within OCONUS and consolidation of CONUS shipments, please refer to the procurement and contracts web site listed below." The only website I see listed is the EMALL site. Is there another website I should refer to? ANSWER: EMALL is the only web site that we have. They can get information about EMALL and its current vendors. QUESTION: What equipment, space, software or hardware will be government furnished? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What platform is used to support the EMALL website? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What software is currently being used to interface with EMALL to generate packing lists, shipping manifests and reports? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Will the contractor be responsible for updating the EMALL website? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Will the contractor be responsible for tracking vendor/supplier inventory? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Is EMALL a pilot project? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: How long has EMALL been operational? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Who uses EMALL...for example, is it primarily individuals or purchasing officers? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What percentage of potential buyers use EMALL as their acquisition source? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What other sources do buyers have available to them? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Is there central receiving? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Is there more than one central receiving location? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Where is central receiving located? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: Is there any reason to move central receiving? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What are the shipping volumes (i.e. lbs/month) from central receiving? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit. QUESTION: What are the "hottest" items being shipped? ANSWER: This will be addressed at the site visit.Request interested parties submit a capabilities statement not to exceed 20 pages, single-spaced to Ms. Brenda Geist (Brenda.geist@dla.mil) no later than 2:00 p.m., 8 Dec 2003.
