- NA FedBizOpps Announcement of PMECW Technology Workshop 2004 Title: PMECW Technology Workshop 2004 Date: January 28-29, 2004 Location: Richlin Ballroom, 1700 Van Bibber Road, Edgewood, Maryland 21040 Host: Program Manager for Elimination of Chemical Weapons Facilitator: Science Applications International Corporation The mission of the U.S. Army s Program Manager for Elimination of Chemical Weapons (PMECW) is to safely dispose of the chemical warfare materiel at stockpile and non-stockpile sites. To support this mission, PMECW actively seeks, monitors, and evaluates p otentially useful technologies for integration into the chemical demilitarization program. One aspect of this activity is the organization of a Technology Evaluation Workshop to facilitate the exchange of information among experts from industry, academia, and the Government. The objective of the symposium is to clarify PMECWs current and anticipated technical needs and to enable technology owners/providers to present potential solutions. Vendors, contractors, researchers and Government representatives are invited to submit presentation proposals within the following general areas: - Offgas, liquid effluent or solid residue treatment - Agent monitoring of facility, waste stream emissions, or secondary wastes - Decontamination and decommissioning of chemical agent facilities, equipment, and personal protective ensemble Specific technical issues currently of interest to the Chemical Demilitarization Program include: - Quantification of low levels of agent in complex hydrolysate matrices - Non-intrusive detection of chemical agents in munitions - Removal of mercury and other metals from liquid agents - Perimeter monitoring for agents in terms of the new emission limits The format of the workshop sessions will be an overview of the technical need, related vendor and/or research organization presentations, and an open discussion of the issues. Proposed presentations must be submitted no later than COB 02 Jan 04 by mail to Science Applications International Corporation, Attention Ms. Ella Bernard, 3465 Box Hill Corporate Center Drive, Abingdon, MD 21009, or electronically to ella.m.bernard@saic.com. All attendees must register prior to the workshop by contacting Ms. Bernard by e-mail or using the online registration form at www.pmcdtecheval.com. A registration fee of $30 for one day or $60 for two days will be charged at the door to cover workshop expenses. This will include continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and all day beverage service.
