- Description
- Requirements List for acoustic device. 1. The Coast Guard requires a directional acoustic device that can broadcast clear intelligible voice communications to a distance of at least 500 yards, can resist rough handling and the marine salt air environment. 2. This device must be self contained with no external equipment or peripheral boxes attached. The exceptions can be auxiliary audio cables and devices such as microphones, laptop computers, CD players, MP3 players etc. The device must have an aiming mechanism, which can be removable and protrude from the overall dimension. 3. The device must be man portable, weigh less than 50 lbs, and be aim-able and hand operated by one person, once mounted. 4. The device cannot be more than 40 inches square and 8 inches thick. 5. The device must be able to be tripod mounted (tripod included with device) and be adaptable to mount on a boat railing. 6. The device must be acoustically directional to no more than +/- 15 deg. 7. The device must run at all voltages between 100 and 250 VAC at 50-60 Hz, and the power cannot be less than 800 watts. 8. The device must have documented proof of intelligible voice at 500 yards or more. 9. The unit must be ear safe behind the unit. 10. The unit must include a programmable voice translator for common languages. To include French, Spanish and English. 11. The unit must include all hardware, software and documentation, including users manuals, installation manuals, as well as power cords and audio cables. 12. The unit must have at least a one-year guarantee. 13. The unit must be marinerized and have documented proof that it can survive the marine environment by passing the following military specification tests. ? Rain (Mil-Std 810 1&2) ? Salt Fog (Mil-Std 810F ?509 ? Vibration (Mil-Std 810) ? Shock, 20 saw tooth impulses of 20 g?s each with an 11 msec duration. 14. The unit must have an on off switch, and a volume or gain control. The unit must include standard line level audio inputs and common connectors to accommodate audio preamplifiers, tape players, laptop computers, MP3 players and CD players All responsible sources may request a solicitation package by faxing or emailing a request to: 860-441-2607 or sbuttacavoli-corey@rdc.uscg.mil. Telephone inquiries/requests will not be accepted. **The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 30 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
