Description
NA DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004 The Fiscal Year 2004 (FY04) Defense Appropriations Act provides $10 million to the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OCRP) to support innovative research directed toward eliminating ovarian cancer. The U.S. Army Medical Research and M ateriel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) administer this program. The OCRP is releasing Program Announcements for two different funding mechanisms in this notification. The name and intent of each funding mechanism, its Program Announcement release date, and submission deadline are as follows: The Idea Development Awards are intended to support innovative approaches to ovarian cancer research. Proposals must address etiology/tumor biology, preclin ical development of targeted therapeutics (excluding clinical trials), or molecular imaging/vital imaging of ovarian cancer. These awards will emphasize innovative ideas and technology. Preliminary data relevant to ovarian cancer and the proposed project is required. Independent investigators with all levels of experience are eligible to apply. Awards up to $600,000 in direct costs over a 3 year period plus indirect costs as appropriate are available. The New Investigator Research Awards are intended to recognize and support the career transition and/or development of independent researchers in ovarian cancer research. Proposals must address etiology/tumor biology, preclinical development of targeted therapeutics (excluding clinical trials), or molecula r imaging/vital imaging of ovarian cancer. These awards will emphasize innovative ideas and technology. Preliminary data relevant to the proposed project is required. Junior faculty, or equivalent, who are within 5 years or less of their last training e xperience or established investigators with less than 3 years of experience in ovarian cancer are eligible to apply. Awards up to $600,000 in direct costs over a 3 year period plus indirect costs as appropriate are available. The Idea Development Award an d New Investigator Research Award Announcements were released on November 4, 2003 with a submission deadline of February 3, 2004, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Detailed descriptions of each of these funding mechanisms, evaluation criteria, and submission require ments can be found in the FY04 OCRP Program Announcements corresponding to that funding mechanism title. Each Award Mechanism Program Announcement may be downloaded from the CDRMP web site (http://cdmrp.army.mil). Electronic submission of proposal must be accomplished via the CDMRP eReceipt Online Proposal Submission site, and can be accessed at https://cdmrp.org/proposals. All applicants will be required to submit one electronic versions of their proposal as a PDF (portable document format) file. The web site also contains further information about the, OCRP, OCRP awardees, previous OCRP Program Announcements, and other CDMRP sponsored programs and events.
