Description
In 1974, Congress created the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as an independent agency with the mandate to regulate and ensure the economic utility of the futures and option markets in the United States. The Commission encourages the competitiveness and efficiency of these markets; ensures their integrity; and protects market participants from manipulation, abusive trade practices, and fraud. The Commission investigates and prosecutes alleged violators of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and Commission regulations, and brings injunctive cases in U.S. District Court and administrative cases before CFTC Administrative Law Judges. In pursuing its mission, CFTC requires transcription services for hearings before administrative law judges, deposition of witnesses, and transcriptions of other meetings and interviews. The majority of transcription services are required in the vicinity of CFTC regional offices located in Washington, DC, New York, NY, Chicago, IL, and Kansas City, MO, and in the vicinity of US District Courts in Florida and Texas. Transcription services are also required, on an ad hoc basis, at other locations throughout the continental United States. CFTC seeks qualified small businesses that can provide CFTC with transcription services on a routine and short notice basis. The NAICS code is 561492.
