Description
Notice of availability of a prospectus for solicitation of proposals for marina facilities and services at the Whiskeytown Unit of the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. These services include boat and related equipment rentals, slip rentals and moorage, dry boat storage, minor boat repairs, boat towing, fuel sales, retail services, food and beverage service, showers, tent and RV camping, and firewood sales. Proposals are due Wednesday, March 3, 2004, no later than 4:00 p.m. Whiskeytown Unit is located in northern California approximately 8 miles northwest of the City of Redding. The heaviest visitation is during the summer months of June, July, and August, but there is also good visitation in April, May, and September, weather dependent. The term of the contract is 10 years. The annual gross receipts for 2002 were $535,346. A concession improvement program is required in the amount of $192,000 and is to be completed in the first two years of operation. In accordance with 36 CFR Part 51, Subparts E and F, the existing concessioner is not a preferred offeror for the purpose of granting a preferential right to renewal of the existing contract. In addition, the concession contract is not a qualified concession contract because the concession contract is estimated to result in annual gross receipts of more than $500,000 in the first 12 months of its term. The prospectus will explain the business opportunity and the term and conditions under which the National Park Service will award the concession contract. The cost for purchasing a prospectus is $60 by mail or $50 if picked up in person. Parties interested in obtaining a prospectus should mail or bring in person a check or money order (NO CASH SALES) made payable to the National Park Service. A Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) is required on all checks. Prospectus copies can be obtained from the National Park Service, Pacific West Region, Office of Concession Program Management, 1111 Jackson Street, Oakland, California 94607. If purchased by mail, the front of the envelope should be marked ATTENTION: OFFICE OF CONCESSION PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - MAILROOM DO NOT OPEN". Inquiries on purchasing a prospectus may be directed to Ms. Terry Ewing, Office of Concession Program Management at (510) 817-1367. An electronic copy of the prospectus is not available. Two one-day site visits are scheduled for December 10, 2003 and December 17, 2003. Instructions for attending are located in the prospectus.
