Description

The Navy intends to award a sole source contract to Flexlink Systems, Inc., Bethlehem, PA, for a conveyer system capable of moving ophthalmic trays with lens and spectacle frames from the blank and frame storage area, to the edging area and out; or into the lens generating area to the lens taper, to the lens blocker, to the lens generators, to the lens surfacers; from the lens surfacers to the assembly area; taking the tools from the lens generators and surfacers to the tool storage area; capable of interfacing with a fully robotic lens blocking system, as well as LOH lens generators, LOH lens edgers, LOH lens surfacers, and the Navy's laboratory automation software. The resulting contract will be a firm fixed price purchase contract. Negotiation being conducted using other than full and open competition procedures pursuant to authority of FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within seven (7) days after date of publication of this synopsis. The Government will not be responsible for any cost incurred in proposal preparation. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the agency. This announcement constitutes the only notice for this requirement and will be awarded IAW FAR 13.5. NAICS 339115/SIC 5995. No phone calls accepted.
