- The United States Marine Corps is issuing a Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. Sources are sought that could provide replacement weapons for the MEU(SOC) .45 Handgun currently in service. Vendors are invited to submit profiles of their products in order for the Marine Corps to determine cost data and the potential for conducting an acquisition in FY 04. This sources sought/Request For Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire follow-on acquisition. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. For seven days after release of this RFI e-mail questions concerning the contents of this RFI may be sent to the contracting officer at pladsonac@mcsc.usmc.mil. No telephone or verbal questions will be considered. The answers to those questions and any questions that arise at the vendor conference will be posted on the Marine Corps Systems Command website. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS AT THIS TIME. NO E-MAIL RESPONSES TO THIS RFI WILL BE ACCEPTED. Responses to this RFI shall be mailed to Commanding General, MARCORSYSCOM, Attn: Code 13202AP, Alice C. Pladson, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134 no later than 15 January 2004. For further information regarding this RFI or submission of materials, contact the Contracting Officer, Ms. Pladson, at: (703) 432-3736, e-mail: pladsonac@mcsc.usmc.mil. An unclassified conference to answer questions about this RFI is scheduled for 0900, 17 December 2003 in the Chosin Reservoir Conference Room, BAE Systems support team offices, 25 Center Street, Stafford, Virginia 22555. The purpose of the conference is to answer questions about the RFI, explain the process for submitting proposals for the RFI, and explain the process for submitting proposals for a follow-on RFP. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged. Occasionally, vendors do not correctly submit proposals and are therefore not considered. The answers to all questions e-mailed to the Marine Corps Systems Command contracting officer and asked at the conference will be posted on the Marine Corps Systems Command website within seven days after the conference for the benefit of those vendors who did not attend the conference.
