Description
NASA Kennedy Space Center is hereby issuing a Request for Information (RFI) for the purpose of seeking sources and soliciting information from private industry on a 70mm Film Projector. The objective of this release is to promote competition, to improve potential offerors understanding of the Government?s requirement and improve the Government?s knowledge of industry?s capabilities. SPECIFICATIONS The requirement for the film projector is very specialized and must meet the following conditions: ?Bell and Howell format 10 perforation per frame 70mm film ?Capable of varying projector speed from freeze frame to 1 fps (in both forward or reverse) to up 24 fps ? and speeds within that range. In industrial terminology: Capable of still frame projection with no time limit. ?Both preset projection speeds (example: 1-3-6-12-24 fps in forward and reverse) with JOG monitor switch; variable projection speed adjustments as through a potentiometer control both forward and aft. ?Control of projector either done at the projector or through a remote control device located up to 50 feet away from projector. ?Projector lamp (i.e. image) must remain on during change of direction. ?Display of projection speed via frame counter. ?Shuttle operation of up to 50 fps forward or reverse. ?No projector lamp heat buildup on film which might cause damage or warping of film. ?Stable film gate to prevent film variations in focus problems. ?Capable of handling film loads of up to 1000 feet. ?Easy treading, operation, and maintenance required. ?High reliability, durability, and long term maintainability a must. ?Must have fast forward and fast rewind. ?8 ? 70 mm split reels ?Must project 70mm film to a size of approximately 6 feet by 6 feet at a distance of 45 feet. Responses to this RFI should reference RFI03-KKM-70MM and shall include the following information in this format: 1. Company name, address, POC name, phone number, fax number and email address. 2. Contractor and Government Entity (Cage Code) 3. Size of business ? Large Business, Small Business, Small Disadvantage, 8(a), Hubzone, Woman-owned and/or Veteran-owned. 4. If the items can be solicited from a GSA schedule. If so, provide the GSA contract number. 5. Normal industry?s production and delivery time after receipt of order. 6. Potential unit cost for one (1) 70mm Film Projector. 7. Any other supporting documentation. Please advise if this requirement is considered to be commercial or commercial-type product. Commercial item is defined in FAR 2.101. Offerors may submit comments on the requirements and may submit any suggested alternative methods to meet the Government?s requirement. Respondents are responsible for downloading their own copy of the RFI. All responses shall be submitted no later than COB Wednesday, December 10, 2003, to Ms. Regina Clifton.
