- The U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park, CA intends to make a sole source award to Vladimir Berger, 255 Rengstorff Ave, #19, Mountain View, CA 94040. Vendor is to provide services consisting of, 1) delineation of permissive belts for polymetallic replacement zinc-lead deposits from around the world. Prepare a deposit density model for worldwide polymetallic replacement zinc-lead deposits. Deposit density models are counts of the numbers of deposits per unit area from well-explored regions. Compile data on the extent that these belts and deposits are covered and explored in order to adjust the deposit density model. At least 5 separate estimates will be made using polymetallic replacement zinc-lead deposits consistent with a new grade and tonnage model. Maps of the belts will be prepared in Illustrator. 2) Update the porphyry copper database published in USGS OF-02-268 with new data on worldwide deposits such as the recently discovered deposits from western China. Check for and correct errors in present database. Vendor's unique capabilities include: 1) personal knowledge of the economic geology of many mineral deposits in several different countries, and his ability to speak and read Russian; 2) He has experience with USGS detailed requirements related to acceptable kinds of data and ways of defining mineral deposit types as in USGS Bulletin 1693 as opposed to mineral occurrences or other classifications; 3) Vendor has experience with base metal deposits like those considered here and with world-wide zinc-lead deposits; and 4) He has experience with mineral deposit density estimation of porphyry copper deposits and with our porphyry copper database.
