- Description
- The United States Marine Corps, Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, VA is tasked with providing Battlespace Management and Air Defense Systems. Among those programs are the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) and Multi-Role Radar System (MRRS). Recent press reports regarding these two programs may be misleading to industry. The Marine Corps would like to correct any misperceptions resulting from those reports. CAC2S is a fully funded program and remains within cost, schedule and performance goals. MRRS is a funded program to provide the warfighter with a single system capability for short-range air defense, medium range air surveillance, and air traffic control. The US Army AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel Radar does not have the capability to meet all MRRS mission requirements; and therefore, was eliminated by the Marine Corps, as an existing single material solution alternative. The BMADS Radar Program Office brief provided to Industry during the 9 June 2003 Radar Industry Day remains valid.
