- Manufacturers must offer a line of surge protectors which must be UL approved, offer a connected equipment warranty and shall include, but not limited to the following types and meet these requirements: Metal surge protector with fax and phone, 1110 Joule rating & AC adaptor spacing with a 6 ft. power cord, right angle plugs, ABS end caps, and a 15 amp circuit breaker that provides electrical and phone/fax line protection. Metal 2 in 1 surge protector with fax/phone and the same unique features as above, including unique “Slit” feature with 5 outlet surge protectors permanently connected with a 4 ft. cord between the units/10 total outlets. Right angle plugs, 950 Joule rating and designed in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code recommendations; provide electrical and phone/fax line protection. 8 outlet surge protector with unique compact design. Features to provide maximum surge protection in a small compact and uniquely designed unit. Design should include 3 outlets on top of the unit and 5 outlets around the base; offer spacing for up to 5 AC adapters, a 1140 Joule rating, right angle plugs, 6’ power cord, and provide electrical and phone/fax line protection. Seven Outlet Surge Protector. 7 Outlet Strop Surge Protector, 3 line protection with 6 ft. cord. 840 Joule rating, straight angle plugs, EMI/RFI noise filtering, 15-Amp circuit breaker and catastrophic fuse. The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee) is pursuing partnerships with U.S. commercial manufacturers of surge protectors which meet the following criteria: 1) Possession of a nationally known brand name that can be demonstrated to have significant appeal through evidence of substantial sales. 2) Willingness to enter into a multi-year agreement, which includes technical assistance, to have a nonprofit agency that meets the criteria of the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Program to assemble and/or package the products in question thereby creating employment for people who are blind or severely disabled. 3) Commitment to working independently with the JWOD team to market the products to Government customers under the JWOD Program. 4) Willingness to work with the nonprofit agency, NIB and the Committee to ensure that the products' price to end-users is a fair and reasonable price. 5) Manufacturers' submissions must demonstrate that the specific products meet the various criteria, as well as indicate what functions the nonprofit agency's employees would perform. Only manufacturers need respond. No response is required from nonprofit agencies. More information about the JWOD Program can be found at www.jwod.gov.
