- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for a laser system capable of reliably backside scribing a variety of semiconductor materials, including silicon and sapphire, with minimum damage to the frontside implant and minimum loss of materials. It must contain a solid diode laser capable of high repetition rate combined with focusing optics which allow the creation of a V-shaped scribe to a partial depth of greater than 25 mm in the material. It must provide software to accurately control movement of the substrate with a repeatability of +/- 3 mm over 50 mm of travel. The sample mount must allow stable mounting of samples of varying materials and dimensions with minimum front side contact or heating of the wafer. New Wave Research, Inc., Freemont, CA, is the only responsible source uniquely qualified to meet the requirements of this acquisition. The Accuscribe System from New Wave Research Inc., is the only instrument that NASA found to be acceptable and meet all requirements. The estimate time of completion is three months after the date of award. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on January 6, 2004. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
