Description
Please note the date change in paragraph 3. The U.S. Air Force Material Command, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Air-To-Surface Munitions Directorate, Hill AFB UT, is seeking potential sources that are currently remanufacturing or have similar experiences in manufacturing or remanufacturing Medium Caliber Ammunition. Potential sources shall have Radioactive Material License or similar permit to allow for receipt and handling of the Depleted Uranium projectiles. This project will assess the feasibility of remanufacturing 30MM Combat Mix Ammunition and consist of eight lots (2300 rounds/lot) of suspended or overage ammunition. The API & HEI projectiles will be removed from the cartridge case, cleaned of sealants, screened for defects, and the serviceable projectiles assembled on new cartridge cases with new propellants. The remanufactured rounds will be sent to Eglin AFB, FL for testing. Some of the selected eight lots will have suspected projectile defects, therefore screening must be accomplished and defective projectiles removed before remanufacture. At a minimum, 1150 rounds from each of the eight lots shall be remanufactured and submitted for testing. The project includes validating manufacturing capacity, cost analysis per round of remanufacture, percentage of each test lot that could be remanufactured and reliability and performance of remanufactured product. Rebuilt rounds will comply with appropriate Technical Manuals and pass Lot Acceptance Testing before acceptance by the government. This Sources Sought notice is not a request for proposal and is not considered a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to make any awards on the basis of this notification or otherwise pay for any information submitted. It is the intent of this notice to find sources that have or can remanufacture 30MM Combat Mix (API & HEI) Ammunition. Interested/capable sources are requested to submit electronic technical capability statements and relevant information by 5 January 2004 to: Department of the Air Force, Directorate of Contracting, OO-ALC/WMK Bldg 1215, 6050 Gum Lane, Hill AFB UT 84041, Attn: Olalani Kamakau or email to Olalani.kamakau@hill.af.mil. Submittals shall address and consist of: 1) Evidence of Radioactive Material license or similar permit allowing for the receipt and handling of Depleted Uranium projectiles; 2) Current or previous contracts on, manufacture, remanufacture, or demilitarization of 30MM Combat Mix Ammunition or similar; 3) Product brochures and/or technical data describing existing ammunition manufacturing/remanufacturing capability that meets or exceeds the listed project requirements; and 4) Business size and percentage goals for small businesses. All responses will be considered, provided they address their capabilities in the areas set forth above.
