Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, VA has requirements to develop and qualify a remote thermal sight for the M1A1 Tank Commander?s (TC) 50 cal machine gun and a thermal sight for the M36 sight in the Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV). This is a synopsis only. An RFP may be issued on or about 19 January 2004. The solicitation document will include the provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-27 and Defense Acquisition Circular 91-13. This action will not be set aside. This will be a full and open competition to be awarded under FAR Parts 12, Commercial Items and FAR Part 15, Negotiated Awards. This document describes the efforts the contractor shall perform during the development and qualification effort for both thermal sights. The Statement of Objectives (SOO) includes requirements for developing, testing, documenting and delivery of the remote 50 cal thermal sight system and the thermal sight for the M36. The contractor shall ensure that the delivered remote thermal sight for the TC 50 cal machine gun and thermal sight for the M36 conforms to the requirements of the USMC M1A1 Remote Thermal Sight for the TC 50 Cal Machine Gun Performance Specification and AAV M36 Thermal Sight Performance Specification respectively. The Government will be responsible for supplying any Government Furnished Information/Material (GFI/M). The contractor shall develop/qualify the Remote 50 Cal Thermal Sight for the USMC M1A1 Tank and AAV M36 Thermal Sight in accordance with all the requirements of performance specifications. The offeror?s design shall consist of off the shelf components and/or system that may require mechanical and electrical modifications to interface with the Commander?s Weapon Station of the USMC M1A1 and the AAV M36. The offerors are responsible for making all the necessary changes to ensure that their off the shelf thermal sight conforms to all the requirements of the performance specifications.
