Description
General Function: The Multi-functional Crypto System (MCS) shall provide legacy and future crypto functionality required in Navy surface, subsurface, and land based communications suites. While initially deployed in submarines, the MCS design and construction shall in no way limit the use of the equipment to submarine installations. The MCS shall be qualified for simultaneous processing of communications traffic at multiple independent levels of security (at least four), up to and including Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). The MCS design shall permit other legacy, or future crypto functionally to be added to the MCS by programming additional encryption/decryption algorithms in software. The MCS design shall include growth capability to provide higher data throughput, more complex algorithms, and network interfaces that will be required for the next generation cryptos. The MCS shall incorporate a modular architecture that maximizes the commonality of components and component capabilities. Applications to control the MCS shall be developed in accordance with Open System Architecture (OSA), and integratable/executable on a properly configured workstation through the use of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Management Information Base (MIB). The MCS shall be NSA endorsed for classified processing (Type 1) up to and including TS/SCI. SEE ATTACHED DRAFT PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION FOR DETAILED PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS. SEE ATTACHED RFI FOR RELATED REQUIREMENTS AND WHITE PAPER SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS. NOTE REQUESTED RESPONSE DATE OF 19 JANUARY 2003.
