- Description
- United States Postal Service (USPS) is seeking information from potential sources to provide a flexible retail Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) product (i.e., application, utility, API, library, etc.) to support strategic initiatives of the USPS. The USPS currently has Point Of Service (POS) ONE systems and Integrated Retail Terminals (IRTs) deployed nationwide. There are currently multiple vendors that provide the technology, hardware, software and support for POS ONE and IRT programs. Additionally there are some smaller post office sites that are currently using manual systems. The users of the system will include retail associates servicing the customers, managers, supervisors, postmasters, stock custodians, and vending personnel. Postal facilities may consist of concrete flooring, dusty air, space constraints, and inconsistent technology architectures. Physical facility layouts, sizes, and dimensions vary drastically. USPS objective is to implement a robust, flexible and fully integrated Point Of Service solution that will meet dynamic USPS business goals and objectives. The solution must utilize state of the art technologies that are ?user centric? with an emphasis on ?Quick Service?. The system administration module/interface must have extensive configuration capability and flexibility to incorporate a dynamic set of USPS business rules. The system should be data-driven, hardware independent, and must be cost effective to maintain and manage, in order to lower the Total Cost of Ownership for the USPS. The ultimate goal of the USPS is to ?Enhance The Overall Customer Experience? and achieve corporate ?Revenue Goals? USPS strategy is to deploy the new software to small offices that are currently working manually and to replace software for POS ONE and IRTs with a single nation-wide COTS solution. Suppliers interested in this requirement may submit an email titled "Next Generation RFI" to jewell.r.powell@usps.gov. A copy of the RFI will be forwarded.
