Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) on or about approximately 30 May 2003. Reference SOLICITATION NUMBER N68335-03-R-0101. The solicitation will appear on NAVAIR HOME PAGE www.navair.navy.mil/doing_business/open_solicitations/. The requirement is for an improved Piston, Guide, Left Hand and Right Hand Connector Assemblies, Part Numbers: Piston 622266-3, Guide 626962-1, LH Connector 626964-1L and RH Connector 626964-1R. Quantities of: Piston 42, Guide 42, Left Hand Connector 21, Right Hand Connector 21; with an option for ten additional pistons, ten additional guides, five additional RH and five LH connector units. The launching piston, guide and connectors are part of the launching engine. The piston connects directly to the engine and attaches to the shuttle by mating dogs. The connectors attach it to the guide that support the piston during movement. The Piston is a component of the launching engine which when activated, accelerates the shuttle down the deck to launch aircraft launched from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The Piston is a flight critical item. The specifications for the Piston, Guide, and Connector Assemblies are subject to Export Control regulations and will only be released to firms who are certified with the DLSC for receipt of military critical technical data. It is requested that all interested parties submit a current completed and certified DD Form 2345 (Militarily Critical Technical Data Agreement to NAWCADLKE Contracting Office. Configuration Management per MIL-STD 973 is required. Higher Level Contract Quality Requirements. First Article testing required. Inspection and Acceptance at source. FOB to NAWC, Lakehurst, NJ. Delivery due 270 days after date of first article acceptance. This solicitation is a Small Business Set Aside. Contractors must be CCR registered. The Government anticipates the award of a Firm Fixed Price type contract using the best value method of evaluation. The drawing package will be available after the solicitation is posted on the web.
