- Description
- The National Park Service (NPS) intends to issue a prospectus for a concession contract for retail sales of merchandise, food and beverage services, and kennel services at Carlsbad Caverns National Park on December 18, 2003. The operation is located in the Visitor Center complex, above the world-famous Carlsbad Caverns. This is the Park's only Visitor Center, and it is operated by the NPS. The current concessioner provides services both on the surface and 750 feet below at a location adjacent to the elevators which shuttle visitors down into the cave. The Visitor Center and gift store are traditionally open year-round except Christmas Day. The existing concession contract between the NPS and the existing concessioner expires on December 31, 2003. The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51, has determined that the existing concessioner is not a Preferred Offeror for this contract. One contract will be issued for the services listed above. The length of the new contract will be ten (10) years. Any offer, including that of the existing concessioner, must be received by the Chief, Business Resources Division, National Park Service, Intermountain Region, P.O. Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225-0287 (The Federal Express address is 12795 W. Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80228.) no later than ninety (90) days after the date of publication of this notice in order to be evaluated and considered for an award of a concession contract to provide these services in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The prospectus will be issued December 18, 2003, for a 90-day response period under the terms described in the prospectus, with proposals due on March 16, 2004, no later than 4:00 p.m. There is a printing cost recovery charge of $35 per copy to be delivered via Federal Express or $30 per copy if picked up in person. Checks or money orders (no cash accepted) must be payable to the National Park Service and you must include a business address (no post office boxes) and a business telephone number to receive a Federal Express package.
