Description
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) has a requirement for the replacement of the existing MK II Bridge Erection Boat (BEB), Trailers for the Bridge Erection Boats, Contractor Logistics Support (CLS), technical manuals, and operator/maintainer training. The primary function of the BEB is to provide the capability to provide propulsion and maneuvering thrust to the Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB). Essential BEB mission requirements include moving and placement of floating material, supporting diving operations, maritime projects, inland water patrols, hydrographic survey operations, and performing other missions related to military operations afloat. The USMC has posted a DRAFT commercial solicitation on the BEB web page found at: http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/sites/ctq/opport.asp Drawings of the current BEBs are provided at this site for informational purposes only. Any questions relating to the draft solicitation shall be submitted via e-mail by 12 January 2004. Questions and answers will be posted on the BEB web site. The USMC intends to release a Final solicitation within the next 60 days for the procurement and delivery of the Bridge Erection Boats (BEB), Trailers for the Bridge Erection Boats, Contractor Logistics Support (CLS), technical manuals, and operator/maintainer training. This solicitation will be a 100% Small Business Set-Aside using Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12 ? Acquisition of Commercial Items. Commercial items are defined in FAR Part 2.1. The requirement is for a Base Year quantity of four (4) BEBs and associated Trailers, CLS and Training. There are four Options for up to an additional sixty-two (62) BEBs, Trailers and associated CLS and Training. All subsequent announcements and solicitations for this program will only be provided via the World Wide Web. Interested parties should routinely check the Bridge Erection Boat WWW homepage, as updates will be frequent. The final solicitation will be available only via this homepage.
