Description
DESCRIPTION: The Government has a requirement for a Mechanical Architect/Engineering (A/E) firm to provide Contract Drawings, Specifications, Construction Cost Estimate, Engineering Calculations, and subsequent Construction Period Services for the Replace Cooling Towers Project at the VA Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ. Project includes design to install a new main Cooling Tower correctly sized, with emphasis on energy conservation, for the systems involved to serve the medical center?s chilled water system. The new unit is to be installed on the ground inside the newly enclosed area north of Building 2 prior to the deactivation and demolition of the existing unit on the roof of the Laundry section of Building 2. Relocate the existing Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger located on the roof of Building 2 into the newly enclosed area north of Building 2. Pipe the exchanger into the chilled water system in series with the new Cooling Tower to best utilize ?free? cooling during cooler winter temperatures. Install new controls systems, wiring for the cooling tower and heat exchanger and integrate them into the existing Graphics Control System in Building 2. Install a new Water Softener System, including above ground Brine Tank, in the newly enclosed area north of Building 2. Demolish and remove the old softener system. Project will include demolition, architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing & sanitary, electrical and other related work. The NAICS Code is 541330 with a Size Standard of $4.0 Million. Estimated construction cost range is between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000. Completion time is 126 calendar days from contract award with design reviews at 35%, 60% and 100%. Interested firms will be based on the professional and specialized services as stated in Numbered Note 24. 254's and 255's will be accepted from responsible firms within a 500-mile radius of the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center until 4:00 p.m., January 29, 2004. The radius shall be determined based on the address stated in block 1 of the SF 254. All design criteria for the Veterans Affairs is available at www.va.gov/facmgt/ae . This solicitation is unrestricted in accordance with the Small Competitiveness Demonstration Program (P.L. 100-656). Award is subject to the availability of funds. This is NOT a Request For Proposal and a solicitation document does not exist. Phone calls will not be accepted.
