Description

Sole Source. The United States Army Yuma Proving Ground (USAYPG) Yuma, Arizona, intends to negotiate a sole source contract with General Atomics Technologies Inc, 3550 General Atomics Ct, San Diego, CA 92186. This contract will be for Automated Radiography Imaging Upgrades. The upgrade will consist of two CLINs (Contract Line Item Numbers). CLIN 0001 is for phase one of the upgrades. Phase one period of performance will be 12 January 2004 through 30 September 2004. CLIN 0001 consists of th e replacement of the image capture and analysis computer, and the motion control system upgrading from DOS 3.1 to Windows based. The upgrade of the motion control system will include replacement of all of the drive motors, encoders and motor controllers a nd 286 computers will be replaced with current technology. CLIN 0002 will be an option to exercise phase two of the upgrades. Phase two period of performance will be 01 October 2004 through 30 September 2005 (FY05). CLIN 0002 consists of the replacement of the Data General supervisory computer upgrading from the Data General operating system (AOS VS) to Windows based. General Atomic (GA) is the supplier of USAYPGs Automated Real Time Systems computer system. This computer system was modified by GA prior to installation in the Real Time Radiographic Inspection System and has proprietary software installed. Due to paten ts and proprietary software, GA is the only contractor able to upgrade this unique system. Interested parties may submit technical literature showing their capability to meet the Government requirement to Laura.StJohn@yuma.army.mil no later than 4:30 P.M. MST, 28 January 2004. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. I nformation received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. See Note 22, with the exception that the time period for receipt of proposals for consideration is 20 days instead of 45 days.
