- Description
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announces willingness to extend operations of the Advanced Communications Technology Satellite (ACTS) for educational and research purposes to a government agency or non-profit organization. The spacecraft is permanently retired at 105.2 degrees West longitude with inclination currently at 4.6 degrees. Limited daily use of the 20/30 GHz payload for connecting spot beam locations is feasible. Spacecraft attitude control with diurnal variations is expected to be available for two years. No warranties of service are stated or implied since spacecraft and ground systems are well beyond intended service life. Ultra small aperture terminals can be made available by arrangement with the Ohio Consortium for Advanced Communication Technology (OCACT). Users must comply with existing FCC experimental license restrictions as well as assume all operating costs for satellite and ground stations by March 20, 2004. Responses to this announcement are required to the POC by February 6, 2004 in order to be considered by NASA. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the POC.
