Description
The purpose of this modification is to provide answers to vendor questions as follows: QUESTION: 1) Cost: We are assuming request for cost is preliminary and broad in nature. ANSWER: Yes. The information contained within the RFI does not provide adequate detail to determine costs for licensing, infrastructure, hardware, deployment, etc. For the purposes of the RFI, we intend to identify a cost range for estimating purposes. Please let us know if this meets the RFI requirements. ANSWER: A cost range will be acceptable. Storage requirements for each of the four high demand sites would be in the 1-2-pedabyte region. Installation of the entire system would be required at all 4 high demand areas. Windows OS preferred, but not mandatory. Multi-level security access will need to be resolved to allow access to data on a need to know basis. Security levels involved: unclassi fied, confidential, secret, secret-SCIF. QUESTION: 2) Document Management System: Other than 5015.2 compliance, is there a preference in place for a document management system? Is there a current system in place that could be expanded to support the scope of the project? ANSWER: No preferred document management system. There may be other DOD facilities with a Document Management System in place or in development and could be expanded or adopted. QUESTION: 3) Hosting: Is it the intent to have the document management system hosted at one single site or are all four high demand sites planning on hosting individual systems? ANSWER: The four high demand sites would host data under their control with access to that data available to other users on a need to know basis. QUESTION: 4) Schedule: The RFI refers to a request for a schedule (?FY 2006 - Provide a schedule and/or comments regarding the schedule objectives?). Is a high-level MS Project document acceptable to support this request? ANSWER: Yes. QUESTION: 5) Since we focus on Storage management and only a part of the RFP is asking for this requirement, do we hand in the specifications and pricings to that part on its own or do we have to partner with the company that will be awarded the complete contract? ANSWER: For purposes of the RFI, submittals on portions of the information are acceptable. However, if this requirement is solicited in the future, it is anticipated to be a single contract awarded to one company. That company would need to partner or subcontract with other companies to provide the complete package of hardware and software.
