Description
The Chugach National Forest will be doing road maintnenace work, Construction & reconstruction of various roads within the National Forest Boundaries. The Forest intends to make multiple awards. Work will be done thru competed Task Orders with the firms that were awarded a basic contract. The following work may be accomplished by such task orders: Road construction will be limited to one mile or less. This work will involve all construction activities normally associated with new road construction. The exception to this is, no drilling and shooting will be anticipated, side slopes will not consistently exceed 45 % and not more than 20 % of excavated material shall be designated for end haul. Road reconstruction work will involve traveled way restoration (bituminous and aggregate and native surfaces), roadside vegetation management, drainage restoration replacement and installation, cut and fill slope stabilization and road sign installation. Decommissioning will involve the excavating and removal of corrugated metal pipes (various sizes), ripping, re-contouring, placement of mineral/woody material, installation of surface drainage and access blocking features. Miscellaneous construction work is that which requires the use of the same manpower and equipment normally associated with standard road construction/reconstruction and maintenance activities. Road Maintenance work will consist of routine work necessary to maintain the National Forest Road System in a functioning condition providing safe public access, protecting the transportation facility investment and adjacent environmental resources. Work is generally confined within the limits of the existing traveled way and adjacent ditches, shoulders and cut/fill slopes. Possible Performance Activities: Signing(traffic control)? Safety ? Construction Staking ? Clearing ? Earthwork ? Drainage (surface, sub-surface, corrugated metal pipe) ? Aggregate Placement (base and surfacing, riprap, pit run) ? Providing Water ? Erosion Control Measures ? Dust Abatement - Placement of Bituminous Concrete Pavement (Not to exceed 500 tons). Disposal of Materials ? Drainage Installation and Removal Blading - Slide & Slough Removal - Ditch Cleaning - Culvert Inlet Cleaning - Logging Out and Road Side Brushing (with/without chipping requirements).
