- Medical Supplies - Potential Sources Sought Military Hospitals - (Army, Navy, Air Force) TRICARE Regions 9 and 10 Intravenous (IV) and Irrigation Solutions - Standardization Point of Contact: Cindy Ingrao, Clinical Consultant, Tri-Service Regional Business Office, TRICARE Regions 9 & 10, San Diego, CA. Telephone: (619) 532-8517. Potential sources sought to participate in the regional standardization of IV and Irrigation Solutions. TRICARE Regions 9 and 10, a military integrated delivery network (IDN), comprised of Army, Navy and Air Force medical treatment centers in California are in the process of standardizing IV and Irrigation Solutions. (Other TRICARE Regions may participate jointly at a later time in this standardization project.) If your company currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) with the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia (DSCP) for IV and Irrigation Solutions, your company is eligible to participate in the standardization process. Please respond by Email: cingrao@reg9.med.navy.mil and provide your company name, address, point of contact, telephone, fax and E-mail address and answers to the below listed questions no later than February 13, 2004. For questions, please call (619) 532-8517. 1.Does your company manufacture sterile intravenous and irrigation solutions? 2.Are your products available through the Prime Vendor, Owens & Minor? 3.What is your DAPA Number? 4.Under what brand(s) does your company manufacture or distribute your product? 5.Under what standards is your product manufactured? 6.Is your product latex free? 7.Do you use non-toxic, color fast dyes for labeling on your products? 8.What type (bag/bottle) of container do your solutions come in? 9.Are your containers optically clear? 10.How does your company ensure identification of tampering with a sterile container? 11.What material(s) are your containers made of? (a) Is this material incompatible with any medications? (b) Does this material leach out into the solution under certain conditions? 12.Can your solutions be heated or cooled without chemical and physical alteration? 13.What types of solutions and container volumes are available? 14.Do your solutions come sterile in a package that can be delivered to a sterile field? 15.What measures has your company used to avoid confusion between solutions in an identical container? 16.How do your containers and solutions react to extreme heat and cold weather conditions? 17.What is the shelf life of your solutions? 18.How does your company recommend disposal of your containers? Does this method comply with regulations to minimize impact on the environment? 19.What types of educational tools or materials do you have for this product line? 20.What kind of staff training does your company provide? 21.Does your company provide customer service 24/7? 22.Is there any history of backorders and/or recalls for this product group? Additional Technical Criteria for IV Solutions: a)Does your product contain DEHP? b)Does your product contain PVC? c)Have there been safety alerts issued by any governmental or accreditation agencies regarding the safety of your devices? d)Are your solution containers compatible with all types of tubing? If not, what types are not compatible? e)Does your company have tubing specific for your containers? If so, what are the configurations? 24. Additional Technical Criteria for Irrigation Solutions: a)Do your irrigation solutions require special tubing? b)Can your irrigation solutions be connected to IV tubing? c)Does your company offer a wound wash that can be used in the outpatient setting? d)What measures has your company used to avoid confusion between solutions in an identical container? e)Have any adverse outcomes been reported to your company regarding the inadvertent use of irrigation solution for IV infusion? If so, how many?
