Description
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (DHHS), through the Program Support Center, intends to negotiate a sole-source award with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Washington, DC. Immediately following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the American Academy of Pediatrics established a national Task Force on Terrorism. Comprised of pediatric experts in such fields as infectious diseases, emergency medicine, disaster planning, and mental health, the work of this Task Force has been governed by three key goals. First, ensure that pediatricians and other health care providers have the information they need about children, terrorism and disasters as fast as it becomes available. Second, ensure that the unique health and mental health care needs of children are considered in all terrorism and disaster planning and response efforts. And, third, ensure that functioning linkages exist between all national, state and local governmental and private entities working on issues concerning terrorism and disasters. As the dominant pediatric professional society in the U.S., the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have established a track record of producing cutting-edge materials for child health providers with a rapid turnaround. Since the dissemination of the final products is as important as the development of the materials, AAP?s built-in mechanism to reach all pediatricians nationally enhances the value of their work immensely. THE PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION ACTION IS FOR SUPPLIES OR SERVICES FOR WHICH THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO SOLICIT AND NEGOTIATE WITH ONLY ONE SOURCE UNDER AUTHORITY OF FAR 6.302. INTERESTED PERSONS MAY IDENTIFY THEIR INTEREST AND CAPABILITY TO RESPOND TO THE REQUIREMENT OR SUBMIT PROPOSALS WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE. A DETERMINATION BY THE GOVERNMENT NOT TO COMPETE THIS PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION BASED UPON RESPONSES TO THIS NOTICE IS SOLELY WITHIN THE DISCRETION OF THE GOVERNMENT. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL NORMALLY BE CONSIDERED SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING WHETHER TO CONDUCT A COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT.
