Description
Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Technology Directorate (AFRL/SNK) intends to solicit and negotiate with General Atomics for research and development pertaining to remote, battery powered sensor networks under the authority of FAR 6.302. These networks can be utilized for a variety of military purposes including hostile personnel detection. General Atomics makes innovative use of the "Spectral Keying (trademarked)" UWB radar and communications methods toward this end. The result is a sensor network that can provide live, real time video of hostile personnel intrusions, is covert, active for extended periods and resistant to false alarms. General Atomics is the only vendor known to make use of the innovative "Spectral Keying (trademarked)" UWB radar method to develop sensors that would serve as the foundation of a network with the characteristics described above. This method provides a number of unique advantages over current UWB radar technology. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). Contractors capable of offering this technology must respond within 15 days after publication of this notice by submitting a specific capability statement to provide this technology. All responses received within 15 days after publication of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Direct questions to the Contracting point of contact identified in the announcement.
