The responsible vendor shall provide technical support through an 800 number and shall correct errors or replace software within ten (10) business days after notification that a software correction is required. Maintenance support shall be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through an 800 number and through an electronic system. An electronic system is required to request technical and non-technical assistance and provide, at a minimum, product alerts, de-support notices, step-by-step installation instructions and product documentation. This electronic system must have the capability of allowing the user to enter a request using various severity codes and allow the user to track the status of the reported request. The responsible vendor shall maintain an inventory data base of the software licenses in conjunction with the SSA. The solution must be compliant with Section 508 Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) Accessibility Standards. Effective June 25, 2001, the Federal government implemented Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Amendments of 1998 (29 U.S.C. ? 794(d)). Section 508 requires that the federal government only acquires electronic and information technology goods and services that provide for access by persons with disabilities.
