- NUWC Division Newport has a Limited Competition SUBSAFE requisition to disassemble, inspect and reassemble four each Mk 19 Turbine Pump Ejection System (TPES), which is the rotary ejection system used on USS OHIO class submarines. Competition is limited to United Defense LP, Louisville, KY and Flowserve Corporation, Phillipsburg, NJ because they are the only firms that have been certified by the Submarine Maintenance Engineering Planning and Procurement activity (SUBMEPP) as Designated Overhaul Points (DOP) for this item. Required delivery for the first overhauled item is February 2005, with the remaining items to be delivered at a rate of one per month thereafter. The proposed contract action is for refurbishment of equipment for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only two approved sources.
