Description

This is the second of two planned pre-solicitation announcements. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a requirement to construct a prison inmate housing unit at a federal prison, located at Florence Colorado. The construction consists of an additional wing to an existing special housing unit. The prison is the United States Penitentiary (USP Florence), which is a high-security prison, housing maximum-custody federal inmates. The magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS 2002) code applicable to this notice is 236220, with a size standard of $28.5 million. Contract duration will be 365 calendar days from notice-to-proceed. Bid, performance and payment-bonds will be required. Posting of the solicitation on this web site, is projected to be on or after March 17, 2004, with a projected bid due-date of April 20, 2004. This is a 100% small business set-aside. Numbered note 1 applies to this synopsis. Security investigations and subsequent clearances issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required for all staff who perform this contract on the grounds of a federal prison. The solicitation, all amendments, and related future information will be distributed solely through this website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/). Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition.
