Description

The project is located on Upper Knapps Creek approximately 3,000 feet upstream of the confluence with Douthat Creek at Minnehaha Springs in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspWork will be performed in and adjacent to the stream channel, and involves reconstruction to restore the channel to a condition that looks and functions as a natural stream channel.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp2,600 linear feet of channel will be reconstructed to provide a meandering pattern and a variable cross-section and bottom profile.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspStreambank protection will include rock structures and a range of bio-technical techniques.<BR> <BR> Major items of work include 26,000 cubic yards of excavation, 1,100 tons of rock installation, 26 root wad installations, 400 square yards of on-site vegetation transplants, 800 square yards of brush layers and mattresses, and 7 acres of permanent seeding and mulching.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspSediment and pollution control will be accomplished by following a specified construction sequence and by installing temporary silt fences, check dams, and seedings.<BR> <BR> The site showing is scheduled for Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. on the Second Floor of the Marlinton Municipal Building, Marlinton, West Virginia.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe Contracting Officer?s Technical Representative (COTR) for this project is Loren Rice, Telephone: 304-255-9225, extension 128.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe estimated range for this project is between $250,000 and $500,000.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe required performance time is 78 calendar days.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this solicitation is 234990 and the Small Business Size Standard is $28.5 million.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe Invitation for Bid Package (IFB) will be issued on March 4, 2004.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspInterested offerors may register at http://www.fedbizopps.gov to receive notification when the solicitation and any amendments are issued and available for downloading.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspPLEASE NOTE:&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe General Services Administration provides the notification service as a convenience and does not guarantee that notifications will be received by all persons.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspTherefore, we recommend that you monitor the FedBizOpps site for all information relevant to desired acquisitions.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp<BR>
