- The US Army Research Development Engineering Command, Natick Soldier Center (RDECOM-NSC) in Natick, MA, is conducting a market survey for technical information on methods to safely and reliably guide military Free Fall Paratroopers from Computed Air Release Point (CARP) to desired impact point in all environmental conditions. This Request for Information (RFI) is meant to locate potential sources for such navigation systems, with systems available for jump trails within four months of awarding contrac t. The desired characteristics, in order of importance, for such a system are as follows:    (1) operational from altitudes of up to 35,000 ft MSL, (2) ability to view display while wearing helmet, goggles, O2 mask, and other combat equipment without interfe rence, (3) must contain mission planning software, and ability to transfer mission to paratroopers while on board aircraft, (4) additional capability to conduct and be useful in follow-on missions such as communications, Close Air Support messaging, and ot hers, (5)high reliability, (6) expected landing accuracy of 20-30 meter circular error probable (CEP), (7) cost-effective fabrication and maintenance concept to keep life cycle costs low with possibly COTS equipment, (8) capable of multiple targets and way points, (8) provide rapid derigging capability on the battlefield. The science and technology effort in the area of applied research and experimental development being considered is on the order of $50K-$75K per year for two years. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the U.S. Government.    All interested firms, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information. It should be noted that this is a RFI and not a request for comment or request for proposals. No awards will result from this market survey.    Nothing shall be construed he rein or through the RFI process to commit or obligate the Government to further action as a result of this RFI. Firms responding to this RFI shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information, and all information sub mitted in response to this request shall become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter.    Respondents must submit their product brochures, technical data, or other information concerning performance and cost within 30 days of this publication.
