NAICS Code: 5419&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) of the Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking to obtain student services, for one student, under the authority of 43 US Code Section 5d.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe student would provide services under a contractual agreement in support of the Agency's Pathogen Equivalency Committee. The successful candidate will assist with management of the new disinfection process applications including the need to perform the following duties: ?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspProviding written&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspcorrespondence/verbal/E-mail to applicants ?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspReview and evaluate literature and ongoing processes ?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspMake recommendations on new technology requirements&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspMaintain/update files, databases ?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspRespond to questions from headquarters, regional, state and local authorities relating to requirements for&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspdisinfection, vector attraction and performance of microbiological analyses ?&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAssist with other PEC related tasks: water reuse activities including the land application of effluents and manures, and examining the fate of pathogens in the watershed.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe work is to begin approximately April 2004&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspfor a 12-month period, with a possible period of performance extension through April 2006.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe duty-station is Cincinnati, Oh.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe student will normally be working in an office situation, 8-hours per day for a 40 hour workweek.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspOnly occasionally it may be necessary to travel to a wastewater&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsptreatment plant or microbiological laboratory.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspOccasionally to, it may be necessary to assist with some microbiological analyses.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe student contractor should possess a M.S. in Microbiology or Environmental Science with emphasis in microbiology.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspIt is helpful to have experience with or&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspknowledge of public health concerns with wastewater treatment processes and sewage sludge processing.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe student should also have experience with doing literature searches either in the library or on the internet.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspWord processing skills will also be useful as will working with teams.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspCompensation is commensurate with the level of education and experience.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe anticipated (FY 2003) hourly rate is $20.76/hr, but this rate may be adjusted for FY 2004.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspNon-U.S. citizens may be eligible to participate, depending on their immigration status and the applicable regulations of the&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspImmigration and Naturalization Service (INS).&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspInterested individuals may submit a request for the Job Announcement for Student Services Contract to the attention of Cathy Jo Basu, using the following methods: (1) In writing to the above address; (2) by fax (513)487-2109; or (3) by E-mail (&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspbasu.cathy@epa.gov ) to Cathy Basu, referencing Solicitation No. RFQ-OH-04-00040.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspRequests must be received no later than March 19, 2004 by 4:30 p.m. local time to be considered.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspSimplified Acquisition Procedures will be used for this requirement.
