- Medical Supplies - Potential Sources Sought Military Hospitals - (Army, Navy, Air Force) TRICARE Regions 9 and 10 Specimen Containers & Collectors - Standardization Point of Contact: Cindy Ingrao, Clinical Consultant, Tri-Service Regional Business Office, TRICARE Regions 9 & 10, San Diego, CA. Telephone: (619) 532-8517. Potential sources sought to participate in the regional standardization of Specimen Containers & Collectors. TRICARE Regions 9 and 10, a military integrated delivery network (IDN), comprised of Army, Navy and Air Force medical treatment centers in California are in the process of standardizing Specimen Containers & Collectors. Other TRICARE Regions may decide to work with Regions 9 and 10 as we go though the process. If your company currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) with the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia (DSCP), your company is eligible to participate in the standardization process. Please respond by Email: cingrao@reg9.med.navy.mil and provide your (a) company name, (b) address, (c) point of contact, (d) telephone, (e) fax number, (f) E-mail address, and (e) answers to the below listed questions no later than March 12, 2004. For questions, please call (619) 532-8517. 1.Does your company manufacture specimen containers and collectors? 2.Are your products available through the Prime Vendor, Owens & Minor? 3.What is your DAPA Number? 4.Under what brand(s) does your company manufacture or distribute your product? 5.Under what standards is your product manufactured? 6.What types of containers and collectors does your company manufacture? 7.Do you have specimen containers and collectors that are pre-loaded with formalin? 8.Are your specimen containers and collectors made of plastic or some other shatterproof material? 9.Are your containers and collectors available in clear, translucent, or opaque material? Please list the type of container and collector that is available in each of the transparencies. 10.Are your products latex free? 11.Do you use non-toxic, color fast dyes for labeling on your products? 12.Do your containers have clearly marked gradients that are easy to read? 13.Do your containers come with wide enough openings for easy transfer from the source to the container? 14.What sizes do your containers and collectors come in? 15.Do your containers have screw caps or snap caps? Are they plastic or metal? 16.Do your specimen containers and collectors contain a closure that can be removed by gripping with fingers? 17.Do your specimen containers and collectors have a surface that can be marked with a ballpoint pen for patient identification information? 18.Do your containers and collectors come sealed and sterile or just clean? 19.Are your containers leak-proof? How does the user know the cap is securely placed on the container or collector? 20.Does your company have plastic sealable bags that fit your containers and collectors for transportation from clinical areas to the lab? 21.Can your containers be transported through pneumatic tube systems? 22.How does your company ensure identification of tampering with a sterile container? 23.What is the shelf-life of your specimen containers and collectors? 24.How does your company recommend disposal of your containers? Does this method comply with regulations to minimize impact on the environment? 25.What types of educational tools or materials do you have for this product line? 26.What kind of staff training does your company provide? 27.Does your company provide customer service 24/7? 28.Is there any history of backorders and/or recalls for this product group?
