- A SOURCES SOUGHT is being conducted to determine if there are adequate 8(a) contractors for this proposed contract for an 8(a)Competitive solicitation and Award. The proposed contract will be for the renovation of the Caven Point US Army Reserve Cent er, Jersey City, NJ. The project consists of performing a major renovation of two training buildings (50,419 SF total) and an organizational maintenance shop (OMS)(9,593 SF). The project will also construct a new unheated storage facility. Renovation work will include new mechanical, electrical, and building information systems, interior finishes, window systems, roof decks with sloped, standing metal seam roofs, and exterior finishes. Facilities will be brought to current ADA and life safety standards; an d asbestos/LBP will be remediated as necessary. Supporting facilities will include site improvements, paving, lighting, vehicle washracks with oil/water separator, and fencing. This project is planned for advertisement in April 2004 with award scheduled in June 2004. Contract duration is estimated at 520 days. NAICS is 236220. The business size standard is $28.5 million. The estimated cost range is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,0 00,000.00. 20% of the work is to be self-performed. All interested 8(a) businesses should notify this office in writing by mail or fax by 4:00 pm local time. Responses should include: (1) Identification and verification of company as an 8(a) busines s, (2) Past Experience- Describe completed projects that are similar in size, scope to the proposed project, the percentage of self-performed work and how that was accomplished, (3) Capability of obtaining performance and payment bonds for a project in the dollar amount listed above, and (4) a statement verifying the contractor will perform 20% of the work and how it will be accomplished. NOTE: If qualified 8(a) business firms do not respond, this planned contract action will be converted to full and open c ompetition.
