Description
The USACE Marine Design Center (MDC), and the Philadelphia District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, intends to initiate Invitation For Bid (IFB) Solicitation No. W912BU-04-B-0011 to acquire five (5), new, identical, welded-steel Deck Cargo Barge s to be used to support the civil works maintenance and repair mission of the Omaha District. The mission of the vessels requires transportation (and rock placement) of new limestone, riprap, and recycled rip-rap (95%) and transport of silt and sand dredg ed material on the Missouri River (5%). An Option for an identical barge shall be included. Each Barge shall be approximately 120-feet long, 30-feet wide and 6-feet 3-inches deep. The deck structure on these barges will be increased for severe service. A second Option for two (2) additional barges shall be included in the IFB. The primary mission of these barges shall be to remove rock, sand, and silt from the inland waterway system in and around the Rock Island District. The vessel shall also be used for placement of riprap rock to stabilize the riverbanks. Each barge shall be approximately 150-feet long, 35-feet wide and 6-feet deep. All vessels will be delivered with ABS certification for Maltese Cross A-1 Deck Barge, River Service, with Reinforce ment B. The solicitation will be formatted as Design and Build type based upon a Preliminary Design prepared by the Marine Design Center. This contract will utilize the Marine Design Center??????s three phase contracting methodology. Liquated damages an d bonding requirements will be as required in the solicitation. Solicitation No. W912BU-04-B-0011 will be issued on or about March 23, 2004. Hard copies will not be available. No written or fax requests will be accepted. Contractors shall download the IF B (including drawings) and any possible amendments from the Internet web page at the following address https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on or after the issue date of the IFB. The official media of distribution for the IFB is the Internet Web Page. Any amend ments to this IFB will be posted to the Internet web page at the above address. Hard copies will not be furnished. It is the contractor's responsibility to monitor the web page for any amendments. Interested contractors must register on the Internet Web pa ge. If any of the contractor's information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet Web Page. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause for delay in receiving n otification of the IFB and Amendments. Contractors are responsible for printing copies of the IFB and any amendments. Proposals will be due on or about May 4, 2004 at 1500 hours EST. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) cod e is 336611, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. Warranty information and Liquidated Damages will be specified. All contractors are required to be registered in the DOD's Central Contract Register before award as required by DFARS 204.7300.
