- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, has a requirement to obtain Mod. I Plastics Waste Processor's (PWP) for the processing of shipboard generated plastic waste into dense disks suitable for long term storage. The Mod. I PWP is comprised of the three components; the Mod. I Compress Melt Unit (CMU), an Auxiliary Unit (AU), and the Mod. I Plastics Shredder (PS). It is anticipated that 356 CMUs, 191 AUs, 131 PS chambers, and various quantities of spare parts will be acquired under the resultant contract. The PWP converts the plastic waste into 20-inch diameter, approximately 2-inch thick, dense, sanitary disks. The entire disk production process lasts approximately 35 minutes with an average process rate of 35 pounds per hour. It is anticipated that an award of an Indefinite Delivery, Requirements contract, with Firm Fixed Unit Prices, will result from this competi tive solicitation. The ordering period for the resultant contract will be for 7 years. The RFP will be issued on or about 30 September 2003, with a closing date of forty-five days thereafter. This acquisition is unrestricted. Please note: Due to the need to mail the drawings, all interested parties should provide the contract specialist with an address, point of contact, and phone number.
