Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), operated by Midwest Research Institute under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), solicits interest from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize and market ENERGY-10, Version 1.7, an award-winning PC-based design tool, that helps architects and building designers quickly identify the most cost-effective, energy-saving measures for commercial and residential buildings. ENERGY-10 software can identify the best combination of energy-efficient strategies for buildings, including daylighting, passive solar heating, and high-efficiency mechanical systems. Using ENERGY-10 at a project's start takes less than an hour and can result in energy savings of 40%–70%, with little or no increase in construction cost. ENERGY-10 can be used to design buildings for energy efficiency and a superior indoor environment, including offices, schools, stores, banks, churches, and houses. ENERGY-10 is the software component of “Designing Low-Energy Buildings with ENERGY-10,” a collaborative project of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Center for Buildings and Thermal Systems, the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the Berkeley Solar Group. Any licensing relationship may include access to future enhancements of the software. It is expected that the successful applicant for license rights will have the capabilities and commitment to enable broad distribution, training and support for the software use. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis. NREL may also be available to licensee(s) to assist in further research and development of the technology under a sponsored research or CRADA program. Information on technology transfer and patents available for licensing are available on the NREL web site at http://www.nrel.gov/technologytransfer/license.html. THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Organizations interested in commercializing NREL technologies will provide their own financial resources to commercialize the technology. Any organization interested in licensing the above mentioned technology must contact us (per below) by email or hard copy briefly describing the organization’s technical expertise, manufacturing and marketing capabilities, financial resources (e.g., annual report or corporate resume) and proposed use of the technology. Do not include any proprietary information in initial contact. Please contact us by April 12, 2004, to ensure consideration of your interest in the technology. A business or product commercialization plan will be required from the potential licensee during the negotiations. NREL reserves the right to reject any expressions of interest that are judged to be incomplete, unresponsive, or inappropriate for this opportunity, and reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time. Questions and expressions of interest may be addressed to Walter Copan, fax # 303-275-3040, or e-mail to walter_copan@nrel.gov.
